Celebrating 50 Years of Academic Excellence!

A Summer Blessing
May you walk with God
This summer
In whatever you do
Wherever you go

Walking with God means...
Walking with honesty
And with courage,
Walking with love
And respect
And concern for the feelings of others

May you talk to God
This summer
And every day and
In every situation

Talking with God means...
Praying words of praise
For the beauty of creation
Saying prayers of thanks
For friends and good times,
Asking God's help
In all your decisions
Expressing sorrow
When you have failed

May you talk with God
Every day. Amen.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Families throughout our Diocese are in crisis as they continue to grapple with increasing financial challenges to provide a religious education for their children, which has sadly resulted in the painful process of closing some Catholic schools in recent years.

State legislation for a New York Education Investment Tax Credit would make attending Catholic schools affordable for more middle-class and low-income families.   This bill would encourage more charitable donations from individuals and businesses to fund tuition scholarships.

In order to be successful, we need your help right now.  Will you please take two minutes to sign an online petition to show your support for the Education Investment Tax Credit?

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION: http://bit.ly/RockvilleCtrDiocese

Last year, a bill was approved by the New York State Senate.  Your voice and direct action today will help put needed pressure to pass the bill (# A.1826) in the State Assembly and sign into law.

Please sign the petition and support the fight to preserve Catholic schools for our children.

Thank you.

The Third Grade Classes studied the life cycle of Painted Lady Butterflies. The students completed Observation Journals noting the metamorphosis of their butterflies. After the butterflies emerged from the chrysalides, the classes experienced the wonder of nature as the butterflies were released into their new habitat. The life cycle continues!

Congratulations to Megan in Mrs. Haase's Third Grade! Megan won an Essay Contest sponsored by the Humane Society of New York, North Shore Animal League America, and the Office of Mr. Ed Mangano, Nassau County Executive. The topic of this year's contest was "If I could wave a magic wand, what would I do to make this world better for animals?" Approximately one thousand essays were received. Megan was one of six winners presented with a Citation from Nassau County! We are very proud of you, Megan!

Congratulations, Kayleen B.! Kayleen's photo earned her third place in this year's Respect Life Contest.  This photo was taken in the church with her religion teacher, Mrs. Nardi.

Thank you to all our school families for making such generous peanut butter donations.  Your donations filled all the cabinets and counter space in the pantry.  The INN Keepers will be so thrilled to see they have enough to make plenty of sandwiches for those in need at the Mary Brennan INN.  Thank you to the teachers who helped make this event possible and to the students who helped design the tree and fill the pantry.  Great display of teamwork on all accounts.  Merry Christmas!

We all enjoyed spending time with our families making gingerbread houses.  Thank you Mrs. DeCicco and friends,
for making it such a special event.
The cookies and hot chocolate were delicious too!
Thank you to the Gingerbread Man for stopping by!

Our Student Council officers helped organize a Dress Down Day to encourage school families to support our Hurricane Relief efforts.  Thank you to everyone who sent in food and other donations to help those in need.  You have certainly helped to make it a Happy Thanksgiving.

OFFICIAL NOTICE

Rockville Centre—Ursuline Sister Joanne Callahan, Diocesan  Superintendent of Schools, is recognized as an official with authority to respond to Revenue Procedure

(75-50) which was published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin dated December 8, 1975.

In conformity with the IRS regulation, notice is hereby given that the schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools and that the schools do not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of their education policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Sister Joanne further explained that the very notion of racial discrimination is diametrically opposed to the concept of Christian communities that our schools strive to be.  She also pointed out that our Catholic schools have always welcomed and have been enriched by students from various ethnic groups.
